During the pilot, stores using Upshop’s solution reduced food waste by 20% compared to those without it. The decision to roll out Upshop’s solutions across all stores aligns with the EU’s new food waste reduction goals, which require member states to halve food waste at the retail level by 2030.
“The EU’s new food waste legislation puts pressure on the entire industry to act. With this implementation, we’re showing that it’s possible to take responsibility while also creating business value. The rollout will take place gradually during 2025, with a focus on training store staff and further developing the system’s algorithms.
